Call for ABSTRACTSs for the 7th Congress of the Société Française d'Histoire des Sciences et des Techniques (SFHST). Deadline: January 6, 2020
The next SFHST National Congress will be held on April 15, 16, 17 and 18, 2020 in Montpellier. We invite you now to submit an abstract (max. 400 words) for a communication proposal, whether it is part of a symposium (see symposia description on the congress website) or whether it is outside a symposium (open communication). This communication proposal, which will include a title and a summary, should be submitted directly on the congress platform: https://sfhstmtplr2020.

Title of the Symposium
25. NoS–Nature of Science Teaching: Measurement Tools of Physics from Galileo to the Present Day between Science and Technology
Abstract of the Symposium
An important turning point in the birth of modern science has been the use of investigative and measurement tools that can allow the implement and check several phases of an esperienza and experiments. For example: The use of the telescope allowed Galileo to make the giant leap for humankind in order to examine closely the Moon and other celestial bodies.
Pendulum, water clock, inclined plane, launching ramp but also the dialectical tool of dialogue and the mathematical ones of Euclidean geometry and proportions are the means used by Galileo to found the new science of motion. The replication of these tool and related experiments, also called Exhibit, is very fruitful for the curricula of the teaching of physics; it can be achieved either by reconstructing the historical context and the instruments of time, or with modern technological tools and devices such as motion or acceleration sensors. In this sense, the role played by the student become more crucial and full of pedagogical significance.
In this symposium I aim to create a discussion on the role played by history of science (physics and mathematics) and correlated teaching physics within a general view such as NoS at the high school and university.
